Farm-To-Table with Jamie Aquino
May 30, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Wednesday, May 30 – See Times Below*
Instructor: Jamie Aquino
Description: Spring has sprung and the Farmer’s Market is open for business! Walk through the market with Jamie and do what our ancestors did before the invention of supermarkets and mega grocery stores; buy produce fresh from the farmers!
The farm-to-table term is recognizable, but the why is just as important. When you eat farm-to-table, you are eating food grown locally and picked when it’s ripe. You support local families and businesses, strengthening your community’s economy. All of this results in your food having more flavor and nutrition and your environmental footprint becomes smaller.
So, join Jamie for this unique class that takes place in two locations. First, at the Kendall Yards’ Night Market, where Jamie will show you how to select in-season veggies and fruits while also sharing tips on storing your produce and her favorite ways to prepare them. Then, you’ll meet at The Kitchen Engine classroom where Jamie will show you how to prepare a feast using ingredients found at the market along with some pantry staples and a dash of gourmet. Come to this fun and informative class and get a fresh spin of what’s in! NOTE: If you can only make the classroom portion of this class, you can still sign up. Price remains the same. This is a Vegetarian class.
