Authentic Tamales with Chef Julia Balassa-Myracle

Class: Tamales – Traditional and Dessert

Instructor: Chocolatier and Chef, Julia Balassa-Myracle

Description: Gathering in the kitchen to enjoy each other’s company and to assemble a mountain of tamales is a Mexican tradition. In this class you will learn everything you need to make these festive treats part of your own cooking repertoire, from making fresh masa (dough) and delectable fillings to wrapping techniques and tasty sauces. Join Chef Julia in this fun hands-on class as you prepare two kinds of tamales; a traditional tamale with a chicken filling and a dessert Tamale with creme Mexicana and chocolate sauce. Bring your apron and join in the fun!

Class limit: 10       Class Style: Presentation/Hands-On*     Class Cost: $45     Class time: approx. 1&1/2 to 2 hrs


Note: Classes are all approximately 1 hour to 1 & 1/2 hours unless otherwise noted!

*Presentation Style Classes include: Printed recipes, class-room style instruction with visual screens,

Q & A time, and good-sized samples of food.

(Please note – there is no hands-on participation in a presentation style class unless otherwise noted!)

*Hands-On Style Classes include:  Smaller class size, more personal instruction, actual participation in some of the preparation, printed recipes, Q & A time, and food sampling. Hurry – Classes fill up fast.  Please call to register!
