Farm-To-Table with Jamie Aquino
August 14 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Wednesday, August 14 at 5:00 pm:
Instructor: Jamie Aquino
Description: Walk through Kendall Yards’ Night Market with Jamie and do what our ancestors did before the invention of supermarkets and mega grocery stores; buy produce fresh from the farmers!
The term “Farm-to-Table” is becoming more popular, but the reasons why you should eat farm-to-table are just as important. When you eat farm-to-table, you are eating food grown locally and picked when it’s ripe. You support local families and businesses, strengthening your community’s economy. All this culminates into food having more flavor and nutrition while your environmental footprint becomes smaller.
So, join Jamie for this unique class that takes place in two locations. First, at the Kendall Yards’ Night Market, where Jamie will show you how to select in-season veggies and fruits while also sharing tips on storing your produce and her favorite ways to prepare them. Then, you’ll meet her at The Kitchen Engine classroom where you’ll get hands-on and help Jamie prepare a delicious feast using ingredients found at the market along with a few pantry staples and a dash of gourmet! This fun and informative class will give you a fresh spin of what’s in! Each Farm-To-Table class is unique and features different recipes and variations, so it’s never the same class twice!
NOTE: If you can only make the classroom portion of this class, you can still sign up. Price remains the same. This is a vegetarian class, but Jamie always tries to accommodate gluten free and vegan students. Please mention at time of sign up if you are dairy or gluten free.
