Herbs, Spices & Summer Cooking with Chef David Ross

ClassHerbs and Spices and Summer Cooking

Instructor: Chef David Ross – He’s a Food Writer and Cooking Teacher and has presented on radio and TV. He represented Spokane and the Pacific NW on “Master-Chef USA on PBS,” (the first “reality” show with a cooking theme), rising to one of the top three Amateur Cooks in America.

Description: Today we’ll be exploring how spices and herbs can create unique flavors.  We’ll start with a bright, crisp Summer salad of strawberries, cucumber, feta cheese, olives and a basil and mint vinaigrette.  Then we’ll craft the beloved Argentinian condiment “chimichurri sauce”, a fragrant, spicy blend of parsley, cilantro, jalapeno, garlic, and olive oil to serve with roasted game hens. We’ll finish with a tart of Washington Bing cherries and apricots spiced with black pepper and the licorice flavors of star anise.

Class limit: 16          Class Style: Presentation*       Class Cost: $39        Class time: approx. 1-1&1/2 hours


Note: Classes are all approximately 1 hour to 1 & 1/2 hours unless otherwise noted!

*Presentation Style Classes include: Printed recipes, class-room style instruction with visual screens,

Q & A time, and good-sized samples of food.

(Please note – there is no hands-on participation in a presentation style class unless otherwise noted!)

*Hands-On Style Classes include:  Smaller class size, more personal instruction, actual participation in some of the preparation, printed recipes, Q & A time, and food sampling. Hurry – Classes fill up fast.  Please call to register!
