Class Description: Meet TKE Cooking School’s new instructor, Vy! Vy (pronounced Vee) has a passion to share her Vietnamese culture and food with the Spokane community, and is excited to show you how diversely rich and flavorful Vietnamese food can be, beyond Pho and Banh Mi! In this instructional, entertainment-style class, Vy will teach you how to make Banh Xeo, a Vietnamese crispy and savory crepe that was named after the SSSSSEH-AO sound the batter makes when it hits the hot skillet, these turmeric yellow rice crepes are irresistible. Fragrant with a touch of coconut milk, they are filled with shrimp and zucchini, and eaten with lettuce, herbs, and a mild garlicky dipping sauce. Vy will also teach you how to make two kinds of spring rolls, Traditional Vietnamese Spring Rolls and the street style version called Popiah. Popiah is a rice cake roll filled with Chinese sausage, eggs omelette-style, and vegetables. Vy will round out the evening’s class and show you how to make a Peanut Dipping Sauce that you’re sure to love!
